Guided directions to our hostel in Varanasi
Important Notice
Do not let anyone tell and make you believe that this hostel does not exist or that it has closed down or a similar bamboozle! This is a very common scam in India. Tuk-Tuk and taxi drivers receive commission from other places and hence they may try to dupe you into going there instead. Ignore everything else and follow our directions below.
If relevant, tell your driver (insist!) to take you to Vidyapeeth University (विद्यापीठ विश्वविद्यालय) on Vidyapeeth Road (विद्यापीठ रोड), NOT Banaras Hindu University (BHU). It is a common mistake. Insist!

If you're Flying into Varanasi:
Once you get past the baggage claim area, just before exiting the airport terminal, you should notice pre-paid taxi booths on your left-hand side. You can get an AC Taxi for around ₹800. Ask the Taxi driver to bring you to Gate #2 of Vidyapeeth University. The locality that they might recognise is called English-iya-line.
Once you reach the above said uni gate, please follow the instructions below under “Arriving at Varanasi Junction Railway Station (BSB)”, second paragraph.
We also offer a pick-up service for ₹1,600. If you’ve booked a transfer with us, then please just exit the airport terminal. Our staff will be waiting for you with a placard.
Train to Varanasi:
Arriving at Varanasi Junction Railway Station (BSB):
Well, get off the train and come out of the railway station premises, then turn right on the bustling street. Immediately after, at the following Y-intersection, exit the ‘highway’ to go into the city on the left.
Then go past ‘Englishiyaline crossing’ to get onto Vidyapeeth Road. Keep an eye out for Gate #2 of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth University (MGKVP), or just Vidyapeeth University, on your left-hand side. The gate unmistakably stands there just about 300 m down the road – you can’t miss it!
Directly opposite to the uni gate is a quiet alleyway. Get in there and look for ITH signage. We’re about 100 m into the alley on the left.
Our hostel is about 5-7 minutes walking distance from Varanasi Junction Railway Station. If you feel like you have walked too long – stop walking and turn around. You might have already walked past us. Hint: There are newly built tall residential blocks just past our way.
Rickshaws, auto-rickshaws (tuk-tuks) and taxis are available just outside of the railway station. We recommend walking unless manoeuvring through the streets of Varanasi is a challenge you consider not worth taking.
Arriving at Banaras Railway Station (BSBS):
Exit the station and get a Tuk-Tuk or taxi to the above directed uni gate. It should cost roughly ₹50-80.
Formerly: Manduadih Railway Station (MUV)
Arriving at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction Railway Station (DDU):
Exit the station and get a Tuk-Tuk or Taxi to the above directed uni gate. The Tuk-Tuk should cost roughly ₹150-200 and the Taxi ₹400-600. These two options are going to be the most convenient for you. Alternatively, you may also try to get a bus to Varanasi Bus Stand which is about 10 minutes walking distance from the hostel, or get a local train to Varanasi Junction Railway Station and then follow the above guided directions.
Formerly: Mughal Sarai Junction Railway Station (MGS)
When taking a Bus to Varanasi:
You are brave for taking a bus! In this case you will most likely be dropped off either at Varanasi Bus Stand or in the vicinity of Varanasi Junction Railway Station. The best thing would be to find the train station and then follow the above directions.
Boating to Varanasi?
Haha, we kid you not. It’s quite doable (at least from nearby cities like Prayagraj). This is a very unlikely scenario, but just in case you do arrive on a boat, let us know and in honour of your adventurous spirit we’ll pick you up for free! Make sure to de-board at Assi Ghat.
Prayagraj was previously known as Allahabad.
