Update: We’re continually monitoring the situation with COVID-19. Our hostel in Varanasi, like always, is being maintained with the highest levels of hygiene and cleanliness for your safety and comfort.

Original post: Varanasi went into a lockdown on 23.03. and 24.03.2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Then in the evening of March 24th the Prime Minister of India announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown. At the time, the 1.3 billion strong India was largely staying at home.

These are overwhelmingly difficult times for everyone, including us. We are constantly monitoring the fast-changing situation and doing everything we can to abide by the government directives and to keep our staff and guests safe.

Starting Monday, March the 23rd of 2020, we stopped accepting any new check-ins for the foreseeable future at both of our properties in Varanasi. The guests who checked-in prior to the lockdown could continue to stay for as long as they needed and as long as they did not show any of the symptoms of the COVID-19 disease. All symptomatic guests were required to be reported to the authorities and moved into quarantine.

All ITH guests were eligible for free cancellation and full refund against their reservation affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. Please feel free to get in touch with us at hello@ith-stays.com if you need any assistance.

We have resumed full and regular service with all due COVID restrictions and safety precautions in place.

Meanwhile enjoy this video of the people in our Varanasi neighbourhood showing solidarity and respect for the people actively involved in fighting the Coronavirus for us.
