FAQ

We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions

How far is "the temple" from ITH?
Kashi Vishwanath Temple is about 3.5 kms from our hostel. Rickshaws and tuk-tuks are readily available out on the street.
How far is the River Ganges/old city?
Our hostel is located about 3.5 km/15 min drive away from the city centre (Godowlia), and 4 km from the riverside (Dashashwamedh Ghat).
Is breakfast included in the price?
Only if you book the breakfast inclusive price. We serve freshly prepared breakfast, to-order, from our à la carte menu.
Do you offer city tours?
No. We still strongly encourage independent exploration and cultural immersion. Isn’t that what backpacking is all about after all?
Is ITH a vegan hostel?
ITH is a vegan-friendly, vegetarian hostel. We do not allow any kind of meat or egg on the property.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, pets are welcome at our property in Varanasi. We just ask you to take care so that no guests are inconvenienced and to keep your pet(s) off all furniture. Any damages caused to bedding, upholstery, etc. will be payable by you.
How far is ITH from the train station?
From Varanasi Junction: Conveniently close – about 700 m/10 min walking distance. Other stations are a short tuk-tuk ride away.
How far is the airport from your hostel?
Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is about 22 kms/30 min away from ITH
What is the best way to reach ITH from the airport?
The best way to get to our hostel from the airport is by taxi. It would take roughly 30 minutes and cost around Rs.800. Check out our detailed ‘Directions to the Hostel’ page for more info.
Do you offer a pick-up service?
We do offer airport transfer against a fee, but Varanasi Junction (the city’s main train station) is so close that it will turn out to be extremely expensive to offer any pick-up/drop. We recommend walking to our hostel – it only takes a few minutes! It is however possible to arrange for transfers from/to Manduadih and Mughal Sarai Railway Stations.
Are unmarried couples allowed?
Of course! Everything legal is allowed at our hostel. Unmarried couples (of legal age) in India are completely legal entities.
Is there a communal kitchen?
Yes. Our kitchen can also be used by all guests to cook their own meals. Nevertheless, we only allow vegetarian foods in the premises, and that would be excluding egg.

Yes. Although we do also offer free purified drinking water and discourage the use of plastic bottles in order to save our environment.

Yes. You can smoke in the garden or the terrace.
Are alcoholic beverages allowed?
Yes, you can buy your own drinks and consume them responsibly on our premises. We don’t sell any though.

Yes. When you arrive, it will be handed over to you for self-pitching in our garden. We offer ‘yoga mats’ for sleeping. Bedding can be availed for a nominal fee.
